New burlesque beauty: retro revival
Who says that stuck in the past, is a bad thing? Me not, Daddy-O! Vintage and retro styles are a staple in the Burlesque, pin-up and Rockabilly communities. Rockabilly is a style of rock and roll music, which had its roots in the 1950s. It is also a subculture that often goes hand and hand with pin-up and burlesque. Old school tattoos, think "Sailor Jerry" flash art: cherries, Leopard print, nautical star and sparrows are just some examples of common images on clothes and accessories used. Defense jeans and leather jackets for the young, vintage dresses with flower, polkadot or Leopard print and large hair flowers for the girls. Pompadour and red lipstick not only are characteristic of the rockabilly and pin-up-chic!
Tattooed and pierced Temptresses are ground-breaking the boundaries of titillation and take the old fashion blast and grinding to new and exciting levels. Burlesque is a celebration of femininity, diversity, individuality and self-expression. It is a misnomer, that it's not "feminist" disrobe, is, as bodies are the actor highly decorated temples, which are celebrated and respected. New burlesque performers are indeed on the top of many feminist and love body movements. There is no objectification of the female form, rather a Grand exploration of any surface water bodies and living. The standard for beauty has burlesque and pin-up modeling for generations. This updated form of dance and entertainment blurs the lines of the tradition with the addition of body art and piercing, among other things. Web communities such as the "suicide girls" and "gods girls" present the beauty and elegance of the alternative pinup.
