When buying back to school clothes, make sure you’re armed with the basics: neutral tees - in whites, greys, blacks and browns - slim (but not skinny) jeans, and a stylish blazer. On top, play with colors and patterns using graphic tees, stripes, plaid and this year’s step away from the norm - nautical (sailor style). This includes horizontal stripes, mainly in white, black, navy blue and grey.Make a Good ImpressionIf you’re aiming for top grades this year, it’s important to dress the part. A put-together outfit will give your teacher a good impression. You can’t go wrong with a polo shirt in its many styles: the regular polo (or collared shirt), a polo oxford, or a polo sweater. Layer your basic tees with a nice knit or cotton crew-neck or v-neck sweater.No More Baggy PantsThis year, pant legs are narrower than the ugly baggy jeans that add bulk and sit about halfway down your boxer shorts. Accessories are just as important for guys as they are for girls. Matching your shoes with your belt will give you a complete look. Invest in a pair of black vans and you’ll have shoes for nearly every outfit. In winter, add a knit scarf for a pop of color.

It’s a blast from the past this 2011 fall season as fashion trends from the '40s, '60s, '70s, and '80s unite. Pick almost any fad fashion from those decades and you’ll look like you walked right off the runway.

Color palettes are all over the place this year, from earth tones such as mustards and burnt oranges, to jewel-inspired colors like deep purples and rich blues, to the classic schoolgirl black and white.
Dresses and SkirtsAn easy way to transition your summer dresses into your fall wardrobe is by adding a pair of tights. Not only will they add warmth, but they'll also give you a rock and roll edge, especially if you pair them with some rocker chic ankle boots. If you’re ready to pack up your summer wardrobe and start fresh, purchase some '70s-inspired maxi (floor-length) skirts. Florals, stripes and knit designs are the dominant patterns this year. You’ll find a lot of these in the 2011 Missoni collection at Target.
On The TopLayers. Layers. Layers. This season, it’s all about wearing your clothes like an onion (not that onions wear clothes). It begins with a basic tank or print tee and ends with this years’ staple piece, the crop top. Your layers should be flowy and oversized.
On The BottomSkinny jeans may not be out of fashion, but the newest trend is built for comfort - wide-leg jeans, and for a second year, high-wasted trousers. (It seems we’re creeping back toward the '90s flares and '70s bellbottoms.) Tuck in a floral blouse or a printed tee and you’re good to go.
AccessoriesDon’t be afraid to accessorize!. From bulky knit scarves to chunky bracelets, anything goes this season. Add a classic clutch and some Vans, Toms or military-inspired boots for a complete fall 2011 look.
