Hi, at the moment I have just a normal phone on pay as you go. I'm thinking of getting an Iphone but I'm not sure where the best deals are at the moment.
I'm thinking of getting monthly contract as pay as you seems too expensive for iphone 4.
I want as cheap as possible starting cost for the iphone and then obviously, a cheap monthly cost as well. The facilities I would want on the phone would be preferably many/unlimited free texts, maybe a few free minutes (not a must though) and free internet for each month if possible plus the usual apps, wifi etc.
Another question I wanted to ask is would it be possible to view youtube videos etc. on the iphone's internet as on my normal phone's internet currently, the internet is very limited as youtube videos cannot be seen etc.
Can anyone point me towards a trustworthy company or place that has a really good deal with the things I am looking for on an iphone 4 currently please? Will give positive rep.
Also, I know there is likely to be some sort of draw back/catch in a cheaper offer for an iphone 4 so please mention what the "catch/disadvantage" is aswell, if you know please.
Thank you

You will find iPhone 4 contracts do not differ much between all carriers, with £30-£35 a month with a one off payment of £40-£70 getting you a contract with a few hundred minutes, a few thousand/unlimited texts, and 500MB-1GB of internet. Three have arguably the best deal at the moment;£35 a month
£29 one off payment
500 Minutes
5000 Texts
1GB Internet
Yes, you can watch YouTube videos on iPhones. There's a pre-installed YouTube app through which you can access everything on the site, including your subscriptions, favourites and history. Other video sites can also be used, provided it's in an iPhone compatible format. It's generally a great net browsing experience.

I'm in a similar situation at the moment, normal phone on payg, and would like an iphone 4/5 later. I've done quite a bit of research for this, and i've calculated that the overall charge (after x months for contract) and the cost of an unlocked iphone with monthly sim are roughly the same. I think it'd be better to just buy the unlocked iphone, and go with cheap monthly sims such as from GiffGaff, because in the end they end up costing pretty much the same as monthly contracts (both are damn expensive!), but you have an unlocked phone at the end of it, and can switch carriers for better dealsEDIT: Here's one of the articles!

If you're like many other people including myself the you will not want to be tied down for so long. There may well be an updated iPhone within 12 months or there might be better deals available as they are always changing.
The initial cost of the iPhone 4 SIM is not cheap, it is now available SIM FREE via the Apple Store from £499 for the 16GB to £599 for the 32GB version, but buying it unlocked and without the long-term contract will give you so much more freedom. You wll be able to use a PAYG or SIM-only contract from any network and will be able to switch networks as you please. The iPhone 4 is also set up to work with micro-SIM card carriers worldwide so if you are travelling internationally you will be able to slot in a local carrier's SIM for cheaper calls.
The cheapest iPhone 4 SIM-only deal on O2 gives you 300 minutes, Unlimited Texts and 500MB of Internet data for only £20 on a 30day contract or £15 on a 12 month contract. The corresponding pay monthly contracts on 18 and 24 months are £35 and £30 respectively. That means the iPhone 4 SIM only is up to £20 cheaper than the iPhone 4 18 month contract. Over the 18 month contract that would come to a total saving of £360. However when we do the math for total costs, the cost of purchasing outright or on a contract the numbers will obviously be slightly different. See our example below:
On an 18-month contract, assuming a cost of £199 for the 16GB phone on contract and £499 for it SIM FREE:
O2 30 day SIM - £499 + £15 per month x 18 months = £769
O2 18 month contract - £199 + £35 per month x 18 months = £829
Total Saving = £829 - £769 = £60
So, with the example above we are saving £60 over 18 months and we are getting the same amount of minutes and texts too!
Where you will continue to save more will be in the next after the 18 months are up and you are paying £15 per month instead of £30 thereafter. Obviously this will depend on the price you pay for the phone.
THE MAIN ADVANTAGES OF BUYING SIM FREE ARE:
You are not tied into a a long-term contract whether it be 18 or 24 months this allows you to:
take advantage of better deals on other network providers throughout the year.
sell your iPhone and change to the updated, latest one when it is most likely released in a year.
Get more money for you iPhone if you sell, it will be unlocked for more networks and it will still be worth more after 12 months than it will be after 24 months.
If you're situation is uncertain and you may find yourself leaving the country or jobless a SIM-only contract will allow you to cancel with 30-days notice and there won't be a long-term contract to keep paying every month.

believe it or not, tesco is the best (i think)most other contracts are 24 months and a number are 18 months, but tesco have 12 months, which is great
however you have to pay around £200+ for the handset, the tariff of about £25-30 is not that bad at all
check the website for more as im probably a little off with numbers
but also check out top10 which is kind of like a comparison site
