Graduate accountancy roles based JUST in he office?

I am soon going to apply for graduate accounting roles and have heard from a friend who started a grad role at PWC that there is lots of 'going for drinks' and 'networking', meeting clients and going for drinks with them.
he also said how you would work long hours - evenings/weekends.
i was wondering if there are accountancy roles in which you are purely based in an office 9-5 with no travelling?
as if not i think i will have to reconsider this profession,
i expected the 'going for drinks with clients/networking for a stock broker role, not an accountant

Why don't more people look at getting ACA from a banking graduate scheme?

There seems to be a lot of focus on the Big 4 round here, and OK, sure, they're respectable companies and a solid start to your career.
But I'm wondering why some careers in industry, where you can get the same qualification are not also covered on this forum? Personally, I think this route could be far better.
I'm mainly talking about the graduate schemes in the Finance sector offered by banks. Both Barclays and Lloyds Banking Group offer schemes that will allow you to complete the ACA. In addition to that, you'll gain three years of banking experience (yes, I know it's not investment banking), and banking seems to be a common move for ACA's who have qualified from the Big 4. Why not just start in a bank right away, if that is your intention?
Other benefits are...
- The banks pay much, much better (Barclays start on £36k+£8k joining bonus, Lloyds are less, starting on £28k+£3k joining bonus, but both of these packages are far better than you'd find at the Big 4).
- The work is more interesting. I don't know about you, but I don't much fancy the idea of doing audit for 3 years. I'd rather actually be doing budgeting, forecasting, project finance, and making actual decisions, rather than reporting on events that have already taken place.
- If you wished to go into investment banking afterwards, I'd imagine 3 years working at a bank, and the networking opportunities that could bring, would make it far easier than trying to break in from the Big 4.
I understand that having Deloitte or KPMG on your resume looks good, but having started your career at a large bank doesn't exactly look too shabby either (and in some cases, I'd even say the brand name was better from a bank- the difference in 'prestige' between the likes of Barclays/HSBC/Lloyds and KPMG/Deloitte isn't that clear cut IMO).
So why aren't retail banks discussed more on this forum? There's quite a few potential advantages, both in terms of the work you'll be doing, and the pay you'll be getting. You'll get the same qualification too. Yes, you won't have experience auditing a large number of clients, but audit sounds dull anyway, and as plenty plan to leave for banking after qualification, why not start there straight away?

My GCSE were 1A, 4B's, 3 C, I have a Btec in medical science at the College (I mean Act AS, but I had my baby then and found the course to intensive so moved to Btec), followed by my HND Biology/Chemistry, which me access to won last year in the BSc Hons biotechnology.
I am aware how competitive is to get into med QUB, as I've read some horror story threads on refusals, etc.
are slowly suck my hope also their pre-med-year-getting way!In my despair, I am so, consider other routes of entry...
I am determined!I know the interviews and UKCAT results number for allot on offers, but when I apply to a different University as a graduate, and if I be adopted, could I apply QUB for a transfer home and study to return after 1 year?
* If I not not get deals for Sept ' 12, I will apply in the following year as master and re do. Do you think that this increase my chances?

Hoffentlich ist mein Beitrag auf der rechten.Righty, so dass ich mich in den Boden eingearbeitet und eine erste erhielt. Ich hatte nicht erwartet, Suche nach Arbeit in diesem Klima, aber ich bin etwas deflationiert mit Gesamtmangels an Interesse, die ich in den vergangenen Wochen erlebt haben einfach sein.
Ich Suche, schließlich, klinische Promotion anzustreben. Dafür müssen ich Erfahrung, die ich nicht besitzen, für Jobs bewerben, die diese Erfahrung erfordern. Die ol ' Catch 22. Assistent Psychologe Beiträge sind nicht vorhanden, und ich habe aufgerufen um aber kein Glück hatte, also ich haben alle Beiträge im Zusammenhang mit psychischen Gesundheit Unterstützung beantragen wurde, in der Hoffnung, dass mindestens ein Arbeitgeber nehmen ein begeisterter Absolvent und bieten eine kleine Ausbildung.
Ich weiß, was Sie denken... freiwillige, nicht wahr? Ich habe für ein halbes Dutzend freiwilligen Beiträge in diesem Bereich in angemessener reisen Entfernung meines Hauses angewendet. Aufwendungen bezahlt und unbezahlt. Ich habe keinen Blick gehört. Vielleicht bin ich zu ungeduldig...
Es könnte sein, dass mein Lebenslauf und Anschreiben nicht bis zum Schnupftabak. Vielleicht wie ich sound ein depp am Telefon. Ist ich will damit sagen, dass ich nicht erwarten, dass in diesem Bereich Arbeit plötzlich Walzer, aber jemand eine Beratung anbieten kann? Ist jemand in einer ähnlichen Lage? Ich kann nicht erwehren, die der Grund, warum, den ich keine Freude immer bin, ist, weil ich etwas grundlegend falsch hier mache.

Meine alte Psychologie-Lehrer sagt, dass zu viele Absolventen denken, sie sind gonna get in Psychologie nur mit dem Grad und keine Erfahrung. Seine beste Beratung war es, immer wieder versuchen die freiwillige Beiträge, ich bin sicher, Sie erhalten eine. Es gibt viele Möglichkeiten gibt, ob in den Gefängnissen, Schulen, Altersheime, sogar Besuch ein örtliches Krankenhaus, mit jemand zu sprechen. Selbst wenn sie unbezahlte sind, können Sie einen Teilzeit-Job auch halten. Nur versuchen Sie, erhalten Erfahrung in dem betreffenden Bereich nehme ich. Haben Sie versucht, Fragen der Uni, dass Sie für alle relevanten Arbeit machte?Vielen Dank für Ihre Antwort. 
Wusste ich, es wäre ein bisschen wie eine Slog, ich bin nur kämpfen, um auf der ersten Stufe zu erhalten.Meine Uni hat einige Absolventen Jobs, Stellenangebote verfügbare, aber keiner in psychische Gesundheit sind. Viele Beiträge sind in der Rezession ausgetrocknet.
Ich glaube, mein best-Shot ist keine freiwillige Beiträge suchen, die ich verpasst haben, und sanft bis diejenigen zu jagen, die ich in ausgesehen haben. Und durch sanft, meine ich als ob aus einem scharfen Luft Verzweiflung zu geben.
