Simplify:

\frac{3x+1}{(x+2)^3} - \frac{2}{(x+2)^2} + \frac{4}{(x+2)}

This is what I did:

\frac{3x+1}{(x+2)^3} - (\frac{2}{(x+2)^2} + \frac{4}{(x+2)})

= \frac{3x+1}{(x+2)^3} - \frac{2 + 4(x+2)}{(x+2)^2}

= \frac{3x+1 - (x+2)[2+4(x+2)]}{(x+2)^3}

= \frac{3x+1 - [2(x+2)+4(x+2)^2]}{(x+2)^3}

= \frac{3x+1 - 2 - 4(x+2)^2}{(x+2)^2}

= \frac{3x+1-2-4x^2-16x-16}{(x+2)^2}

= \frac{-4x^2-13x-17}{(x+2)^2}

The correct answer is\frac{4x^2+17x+13}{(x+2)^2}

I don't know what I'm doing, wrong advice welcome.

These two statements are not equivalent.
