It is Greek: a taste of exotic jewelry to Greek Festival
The festival season in Western New York in the summer with one of my is open in full swing, and to start things directly, all time favorite cultural adventure: Hellenic Heritage Festival, or as we call it "Greek fest."
About the Greek Festival is amazing, especially the food. Libations and cuisine traditional style Mediterranean fill the air with the smell of the feast, including my personal guilty pleasure, Greek cookies.
Like so many civilizations of the world, the home-made traditional dishes in many ways reflects the culture. In fact, remembered the cookies myself to the jewelry a little. Above all in earrings, there was a lot of copper plates, file and Sandy tones, and of course many dangling items, generally based on natural or geometric circle-like shapes.
The rest of the jewelry, (apart from bright swirling patterns and traditional coins of course) contain a lot of layering beaded strands and earthy gems. The amazing is that to get to the Grecian appearance, the only rule to follow, to keep it simple. Without frills circular designs, plain nodes and monochrome colour make it incredibly effortless incorporate this style in a daily wardrobe without looking like you, try too hard.
That worn by various groups of Mediterranean dancers and performers ornamentation was of virtually naked, to stunning decorative, but all participants were dressed and accessorized in this slightly exotic, spit home-grown style, that you feel, as if you have a tent shoreside street market outside Athens step.
We may not have the traveled on the ocean or a tour of the ruins of the Parthenon hit, but amidst the beauty and culinary delights, everything had to offer the Festival, it was certainly Greek to me.
