I'm currently on Snow Leopard and with the constant freezes, spontaneous log-outs, and general lag I am seriously considering downgrading back to Leopard.

I'm also running it on a Macbook Pro with 4 GB of upgraded RAM (from 2) and an upgraded hardrive (momentus xt 7200rp hybrid drive) so hardware is definitely not the problem.

The funny thing is, I'm not the only person suffering from spontaneous log-outs, it seems to be relatively common and Apple still haven't patched it!

Anyone have any views?

I'm also on a MBP running snow leopard with 4GB of RAM. I've never experienced the lag outs and speed problems, but i used to have a problem with it freezing and going to sleep spontaneously when i used spotlight. I can't remember how i solved it but there was definitely something somewhere on the apple forums that fixed it! Old 2 Hours Ago: 4th October 2011 01:10   Re: For those that are on Snow Leopard.. Thanks for the flurry of replies guys!

I was considering upgrading to Lion but I'm on the lower end of the recommended processor speed (intel core 2 duo 2.4GHz) so I'll probably suffer decreased performance.

I reckon going to the Apple store is a good call, I have uTorrent installed on my computer and have quite a few movies, do you think this would be a problem?

Assuming you're using a 2010 13" MBP, Lion runs fine on mine. Definitely get your current issues resolved though before installing a more resource heavy OS.

I doubt it, but if you want to be on the safe side just uninstall uTorrent. As for the movies, they have no way of telling where you got them from and won't be relevant to the computer's issues anyway [=

Hi,
to be honest, I'm not really in need of a 'more advanced OS'. There definitely seems to be something going on that's slowing down my Macbook Pro and activity monitor isn't telling!
Unfortunately MBP is a 2007 I believe, however processor is powerful enough and have upgraded everything else, so figure I should be getting decent performance.

I shall book an appointment.
