How much harder is statistics/maths at university compared to A-level?

Hey I'm looking to apply for Psychology with Statistics at uni. I adore statistics, but only 2 places do this joint degree, so I was looking at Psychology with Maths. See, I'm great at stats, but with the core maths we do at the moment it takes a while for me to get it (predicted an A though
) and apparently there's a lot of proofs in uni courses, which I hate
Thing is, statistics will still have some proper maths modules in so I'm a bit stuck on whether I should bother applying for the joint course or abandon maths altogether and just go with psychology. But I really want to do statistics with it. And I do like the core maths we do, I'm just really not confident enough to think that I'll be able to work at university pace. But I don't know, if I work at it I might.

Ahh I'm starting to babble and not make sense, sorry
So my basic question - how much harder is maths (stats in particular) at uni?
Thanks!
